One of the brightest stars….. freed from the constraints of the collapsed Soviet Empire has been Halyna Savchyn.
A Ukrainian through and through... Halyna was born in the city of Lviv, regarded by many as the capital of Western Ukraine. She studied music at the highly acclaimed Mykola Lysenko Institute of Music where in 1995 she graduated as a Choral Conductor.
Halyna spent six years as an active member of the Lviv Operatic Society.
Halyna Savchyn is pictured with her son Roman aged five years.
His singing shows he has inherited his mothers vocal talents. A star in the making and a star to watch out for!
Halyna was voted the best looking conductor by the competing choirs at the 1998 Sainsbury Choir of the Year. An accolade she deliberatly tries to play down.
Halyna trained a ballerina before turning her hand to music.
