Sainsbury's Choir of the Year

Sunday 29th. March 1998

Vidrodzhenia gave priority to an Easter church service and did not concentrate on this competition... At short notice the booking party cancelled Vidrodzhenia's booking in favour of a longer established male voice choir. Sadly the male voice choir did not perform and the public lost out on a truly Ukrainian church service.

Vidrodzhenia quickly diverted its efforts to the Sainsbury's Choir of the Year Competition.

Vidrodzhenia sang...

Immaculate Mother of God (Dostoyno). M. Leontovych
Do You Hear, My Brother (Chuyesh Brate Myj). L. Lepkij arr Avdievsky
In the Green Meadow (V Hayu Zelenenkym) arr F Kolessa

Susan Digby, a principal adjudicator for Sainsbury's Choir of the Year had the following to say about Renaissance...

"A lovely rich sound - a beautifully prepared performance - Wonderful basses - An enchanting performance".

Jeremy Patterson a BBC adjudicator enthused,

"Visually fantastic - rich toned entry phrasing most effective strong emotional commitment - You've got great basses".
